The University of Edinburgh, through the Edinburgh Hydro-computation Group, is the controller of the personal data submitted through this website’s enquiry form.

What we collect and why

The form collects your name, email address, organisation (if provided), enquiry type and message. We use this information to understand your enquiry, reply to you and, where appropriate, identify the University colleague best placed to help. Our basis for this processing is the University’s legitimate interest in responding to research, collaboration, consultancy and opportunity enquiries.

Who receives your information

Formspree processes form submissions for us as a service provider. Authorised members of the Edinburgh Hydro-computation Group and University staff who need the information to respond may receive the submission. We do not use form submissions for marketing.

How long we keep it

We aim to delete routine enquiries from the form service and related correspondence within 12 months of our last meaningful contact with you. We may retain information for longer where it becomes part of a project, contract, recruitment process or another University record that has its own retention requirement.

Your choices and rights

Please do not submit sensitive personal data, confidential commercial information or restricted research material through this form. Contact the group through the enquiry form if you need an approved University channel for sharing such material.

You can ask about the personal data we hold about you, request correction or deletion, object to its use, or raise a concern about this processing. To do so, submit an enquiry stating that it concerns privacy. You can also use the University’s data protection and privacy information for information about your rights and how to contact the University’s Data Protection Officer.
